Say thank you to your election hero with ready-to-print postcards

Front and back of the postcard. The front has 5 illustrations of tasks that commonly happen in election offices. In each illustration, one figure is dark purple. In the corner, there is a message "we see you and all that you do. Thank you." The first "you" is a dark purple color to subtly hint that the purple figures in the illustrations are meant to represent an election official. The back of the postcard is blank.

As election officials across the country head into a busy season where public recognition is scarce but criticisms are magnified, we think it’s important to spread some election joy. Election officials do so much, often with limited resources. So we designed a postcard that celebrates the many hats that they wear.

Follow the instructions below to print, personalize, and send a thank you card to your local election officials to celebrate their work this election season.

Not sure what to write? We’ve also included a few sample letters. Feel free to adapt them to include personal stories.

Sample 1 – From anyone

[Name of election official],

Just a quick note to say thanks. Thanks for staying at work late to process new voter registration forms, for getting paper cuts while you open mail-in ballot envelopes, and for continuing to pick up the phone to answer the same question again and again.

You really are an election hero!

Sample 2 – From a voter

Hi there [jurisdiction name] election officials,

You don’t know me, but I know you! I’ve been a voter in [Jurisdiction name] for [length of time]. Every election, you make my voting experience easy and seamless. I know what my options are, where to go vote, and how to check results because of the great materials you all produce.

Thank you,

A grateful voter

Sample 3 – From a civic organization

Dear Election Hero,

My organization works with many newly naturalized citizens, so I get to hear from them on a daily basis how important voting is to them. I wanted to pass along their thanks — and mine — to you today.

Your work makes democracy work. So thank you for all that you do.
