Election design

Elections are full of things forms and information, from voter registration forms to ballots. It’s our mission to make sure that all of them are designed so they are easy to understand and easy to use.  Working with our partners at Oxide Design, we have pioneered best practices in usable and accessible election design.

Elections are full of forms and information, from voter registration forms to ballots. It’s our quest to make sure that all of them are designed so they are easy to understand and easy to use.  Working with our partners at Oxide Design, we have pioneered best practices in usable and accessible election design.

Our work on how voters use election web sites led to a clear, simple web site template that answers voters’ questions from the first page.

The illustrations and icons we created for the California voter guides are now part of the collection of civic icons and images at ElectionTools.org, and have been spotted from Hawaii to Virginia.

We have carried forward a basic layout for paper voter registration forms created for New York State by Oxide Design Co. It is now used in at least 4 other states.

We are working with advocates and officials in several states as they design the forms and interactions for automatic voter registration.

And our groundbreaking ballot design, the Anywhere Ballot, is a model of clarity for voters with low literacy.
