Running efficient, effective, secure elections and empowering poll workers
While our goal is ensuring voter intent by design, that can’t happen without helping local election officials in their work. We’ve developed tools for improving their voter education and making administration processes better.
We work extensively with the Future of California Elections – a project that brings officials and advocates together. This time, we’re on the team to help implement the California Voter’s Choice Act.
With the Center for Technology and Civic Life, we worked to create ElectionTools.org, a resource of free tools for voter outreach. Several of the tools came from our projects, including the election web site template, the collection of civic icons and images, and the usability testing kit.
In a project funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF) we explored the role of poll workers in election integrity and learned how important the training they receive is and how much they feel responsible for running the best possible election in their polling place.
We have worked directly with election offices in:
And have consulted with, given presentations or led training in many others: Colorado, Florida, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Nevada, New Jersey, Maryland, New Hampshire, Oregon, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Washington.
