Asher Kolieboi

Asher

Asher hails from Saint Louis, Missouri, by way of Monrovia, Liberia. His passion sits at the intersections of human-centered design and advocacy. A longtime campus and community organizer, Asher transitioned to research and design in 2016.

Asher’s strengths lie in his ability to work with diverse groups including community organizations and elections officials, all the while translating community needs into design.

At CCD, he’s worked on everything from redesigning Michigan’s Voter Information Center to make it simpler to navigate, conducting oral history style interviews to track attitudes towards voting by mail, and testing cure forms to see what makes voters most likely to complete them accurately.

But his favorite project was testing bilingual voter education materials in New York City’s first ranked choice election. Part of the fun came from the high stakes. “It was risky for such a big city to try a new voting process, and during a pandemic no less.” It was also Asher’s first time working with a bilingual research team and he enjoyed how “it drew on our strengths as an organization. Gosh that was a good project.”

Asher holds a bachelor’s degree in Sociology from the University of Missouri, a Master of Divinity from Vanderbilt University, and a Master of Science in Interaction Design from the University of Baltimore. Outside of work, Asher enjoys trips to the dog park, watching films, strength training, and finding the best vegan restaurant.
