Devon Reid is a Civic Design Fellow at the Center for Civic Design. A council member in Evanston, Illinois, Devon has dedicated his career to enhancing civic engagement and empowering communities. He was first elected at the age of 24 as Evanston’s city clerk. As an election official, Devon focused on increasing transparency, innovating voter outreach, and implementing non-partisan election reforms to amplify diverse voices in the democratic process.
Devon brings his passion for making civic systems more accessible to CCD. As a Civic Design Fellow, he will draw from his experience in Evanston to undertake exploratory research on civic engagement innovations in small cities in the United States. This research will focus on case studies where small cities developed innovative strategies like gamification, participatory budgeting, and alternative voting methods to engage residents in municipal governance.
